Community guidelines
Brumino works because friends keep each other honest. These guidelines apply to everything you post: check-in photos, notes, comments, group chat, names and reports. They are part of the Terms of use, and you agree to them when you start playing.
1. The basics
- Be old enough. You must be at least 13. If you are under 16, or under the age of digital consent in your country if that is higher, you need a parent’s or guardian’s consent to play.
- Be real. Only post real check-ins of your own habit. No old photos, photos from the internet or someone else’s.
- Be kind. Cheer each other on and respect every player, including people you do not know in open arenas.
- Be fair. Verify other people’s check-ins honestly. Do not reject a check-in out of spite and do not approve one you know is fake.
- Be safe. Choose habits that are safe, and do not put yourself or others at risk to get a photo.
2. Photos
A check-in photo should show that you did the habit. It must not contain:
- nudity or sexual content;
- graphic violence, gore, or content that promotes harming yourself or others;
- hateful content or symbols, or content that attacks people for who they are;
- illegal activity, weapons, drugs or other dangerous items;
- other people who did not agree to be in the photo, and never children;
- personal information such as addresses, phone numbers, ID documents, bank cards or other people’s private messages and screens;
- content you do not have the right to share, or ads and spam.
Brumino photos are taken with the in-app camera. Treat what is visible behind you as part of the photo.
3. Comments, chat and names
- No harassment, bullying, threats, stalking, or repeated unwanted contact. Nudges and cheers are for encouragement, not pressure.
- No hate speech, discrimination, sexual or violent messages.
- No spam, advertising, scams, links to harmful sites or requests for money or personal details.
- No impersonating other people or Brumino, and no offensive or misleading display names or challenge names. Our systems block some offensive words in names, notes and titles.
- Do not share other people’s private information or screenshots of their content to shame them.
4. Open arenas
Open arenas let people who do not know each other play the same habit for 7 days. Other players there see your display name, look, check-in photos, notes, comments and chat, so be extra careful what appears in your photos. Apple Health numbers are hidden from other players in open arenas. You agree to these guidelines before you join an open arena. Do not use an arena to look for personal contact with other players or to share contact details.
5. Fair play
- No fake check-ins, edited or recycled photos, fake Health numbers, or arranging with others to approve fakes.
- No creating extra accounts to boost scores, avoid a block or ban, or review yourself.
- No exploiting bugs, scripts or automation. If you find a bug, tell us at hello@brumino.com.
- Coins, items and points have no cash value. Do not buy, sell or trade them or accounts for money.
6. How to report something
You can report:
- A photo: open the check-in, tap Report photo and choose a reason (inappropriate or unsafe, not a real check-in, spam or abuse). The photo is hidden for you straight away.
- A person: open their profile or a check-in, tap their name and choose Report.
- A comment or chat message: use the menu on the message and choose Report.
If two different players report the same photo, it is automatically hidden from others until a person reviews it. We aim to review reports within 24 hours. Please report in good faith: sending large numbers of reports in a day is limited, and false or abusive reports can lead to action against your account.
7. How to block someone
Open their profile or check-in and tap Block. You and the blocked person can no longer see each other’s profile or check-ins, and you cannot verify each other’s check-ins. Manage blocked people under Me, Settings, Blocked people, where you can unblock. If the behaviour is serious, report it as well.
8. What we do about violations
Depending on how serious or repeated it is, we may:
- remove or hide a photo, comment, message or name;
- take away points, coins or check-ins gained unfairly;
- restrict features or suspend an account for a period of time;
- permanently remove an account, including its seats in open arenas.
We act quickly on content that is illegal or dangerous, and may report it to the authorities. When we restrict your content or account, we tell you what we did and why, unless the law or an investigation prevents it. If you think we made a mistake, write to hello@brumino.com and a person will look at it again. A suspended account sees a message and can still contact us.
9. Reporting illegal content
Under the EU Digital Services Act you can tell us about content you think is illegal. Use the in-app report, or email hello@brumino.com with: (1) why you think it is illegal, (2) where it is (the challenge, the person’s display name and what was posted, with a screenshot if possible), (3) your name and email address, unless the report is about child sexual abuse material, and (4) a statement that you believe the information is accurate and complete. We confirm that we received your notice, review it with care and tell you our decision. Our single point of contact for users and for authorities is the same email address.
10. If someone is in danger
Brumino is not an emergency service. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call your local emergency number (112 in the EU). If a post worries you because someone may harm themselves, please also report it to us.
