Cookie policy
The short version. brumino.com sets no cookies and currently runs no analytics, advertising or social media trackers. A consent banner lets you accept or reject optional technologies, so that anything we add later stays off until you accept. The Brumino app keeps some data on your device, listed below.
1. The website (brumino.com)
When we last checked, the pages on brumino.com (home, invite pages, help, and the legal pages) do not set cookies and do not use session storage, fingerprinting, tracking pixels, analytics tools, advertising networks or embedded third-party content. The only thing the site stores is your cookie choice, described next. Fonts are served from our own domain, or taken from your device on Apple devices, so your browser does not contact Google Fonts or any other font service. The light and dark look follows your device setting without storing anything.
Consent banner and cookie settings
On your first visit a banner offers two equal buttons, Accept and Reject. Your answer is saved in your browser’s local storage under the name brumino-consent (value “accepted” or “rejected”). It stays on your device, is not sent to us, and is strictly necessary to remember your choice, so it needs no consent itself. Optional technologies, such as analytics, would load only after you press Accept; Reject, or no answer, keeps them off. Today the website has no such technologies, so both choices behave the same, and we will say so here if that changes. To change your mind, use “Cookie settings” in the footer of any page, or clear this site’s data in your browser.
What our host still sees
Like every web server, our hosting provider Vercel receives technical data each time a page is requested: your IP address, the time, the page requested, and your browser and device type. This is needed to deliver the page, keep the site secure and find errors, and is kept in short-lived logs. It is processed on the basis of our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) and is not used to build profiles or for advertising.
Invite pages
When you open a link such as brumino.com/i/…, our server asks our database for the public preview of that invite (challenge name, habit, length, start date and number of players). No account is needed and no cookie is set.
If this changes
If we ever add analytics or any technology that needs consent, we will update this page and switch it on only after you accept in the banner, as the ePrivacy rules and the GDPR require.
2. The Brumino app
An app does not use browser cookies, but it can keep information on your device. Storing or reading information on your device is allowed without consent when it is strictly necessary to provide what you asked for. Everything below is stored on your iPhone, in the app’s own storage, and is deleted when you delete the app, and most of it when you sign out.
| What | Why | Type |
|---|---|---|
| Sign-in session | Keeps you signed in (stored in the iOS Keychain) | Strictly necessary |
| Settings and progress flags | Your reminders and preferences, tips you have seen, onboarding progress | Strictly necessary / functional |
| Offline check-in queue | Keeps check-in photos on your phone until they can be sent; deleted if you sign out | Strictly necessary |
| Random anonymous ID (analytics) | Lets PostHog tell apart crash reports and events from different installs, before and after you sign in | Analytics, see below |
Crash reports and basic analytics. The app sends crash reports and simple events (for example “check-in sent”) to PostHog in the EU, linked to your random Brumino user ID. They contain no names, notes or photos, and are not used for advertising or tracking across apps. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in keeping the app stable and understanding which features are used. You can object at any time by emailing hello@brumino.com; see the privacy policy for details.
Brumino does not use Apple’s advertising identifier, does not ask for App Tracking Transparency permission because it does not track you, and has no advertising or attribution SDKs.
3. Emails
The emails we send (sign-in codes, account confirmations) are sent through Resend with open and click tracking switched off. They contain no tracking pixels.
4. Your choices
- Website: nothing optional is loaded today. Change your choice any time with the Cookie settings link in the footer; you can also block cookies and scripts in your browser.
- App: sign out to clear the session and the offline queue, or delete the app to remove everything stored on the device. To delete your account and server data, see Delete your account.
- Notifications: change them under iOS Settings, Notifications, Brumino, and in Brumino under Me, Settings.
